Winter Is Fast Approaching – Are You Ready?

There is no doubt that the last few weeks have been a good indicator of the fact that winter is en route to the UK. Which, of course, means that we are all going to be ready with our ice scrapers, windscreen covers and de-icer.

Undoubtedly there is nothing worse than greeting a frosty morning with a frozen car, with the street lights burning in a cold and dark sky. But wouldn’t it be worse if the tank in which you had stored these chemicals had either eroded or frozen itself, leaving you and your fleet stuck – well read on.

If you have a busy vehicle fleet, particularly over the festive season, then it is vital to make sure they are prepped for any harsh weather that may strike.

If you keep de-icer on site, then our chemical storage tanks can be a great solution for your storage needs. Of course when storing any chemical it is key to ensure that this is being done correctly and posing minimal risk via leakage. We advise using a secondary containment area, these should be impermeable and will serve to contain a leak or a break in your container.

If you are storing in an open area, rather than a warehouse, then consider a tarpaulin to prevent the gathering of water or ice.

In the UK we love our pets, namely our cats and dogs, and our furry little friends like to wander and sip on anything they see that may resemble water. Unfortunately, anti-freeze, in particular, is very poisonous to animals and needs to be stored correctly.

Similar to de-icer the chemical needs to be stored correctly to avoid unwanted accidents.

Keeping a good level of this at the base means that your fleet can keep topped up and therefore on the road.

During the darker winter months that are quickly approaching, keeping your team and drivers well equipped for the elements is very important. Both for their safety, but also for the efficiency of your fleet and business.
