The Challenge
Installing a standard oil tank near existing garden structures—such as wooden sheds, timber fencing, or property lines—typically requires maintaining a strict 1.8-metre clearance. In standard domestic back gardens, that distance often forces a tank right into the middle of usable lawn or patio space.
For this installation, RS Boiler Services Limited needed to supply reliable oil storage while keeping the tank tucked neatly out of the way near the garden boundary.
The Solution
RS Boiler Services selected a Tuffa 1,150-litre plastic bunded oil tank with factory-fitted fire protection.
With a fire retardant material integrated directly into the construction, building regulations allow the unit to sit just 300mm away from non-fire-rated structures like timber fences and garden sheds.
Technical Siting & Real-World Dimensions
Factoring in these physical dimensions during the initial design phase ensures smooth delivery and positioning on-site.
By siting the tank just 300mm from the shed and boundary fence, RS Boiler Services maximised garden space without compromising safety, legal compliance, or structural integrity.
