When you run a busy transport operation with a mixed fleet of wagons, vans, and staff vehicles, efficiency at the pump makes a big difference. That’s why K & S McKenzie approached Tuffa to design a bespoke 15,000-litre plastic diesel bunded tank tailored to their needs.
The key requirement was speed and flexibility. Refuelling heavy wagons can be time-consuming, especially when using the same pump setup as smaller vehicles. To solve this, we created a unique two-cabinet configuration: one cabinet houses a Piusi E120 pump for a fast-flow rate to keep their wagons moving, while the second cabinet includes a smaller Panther 56 pump for vans and staff cars. This way, the right pump is always available for the right vehicle.
To give the business full oversight, K & S McKenzie also fitted the tank with a Piusi B.Smart fuel management system and Ocio 2.0 gauge. This allows them to live-track dispensing, monitor tank levels in real time, and even calculate the fuel economy of each vehicle with greater accuracy. It’s a perfect example of how modern fuel storage tanks can provide both convenience and valuable data.
Futureproofing was also a consideration. Like all Tuffa diesel bunded tanks, this model is compatible with HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) – giving the company flexibility to transition to greener fuels when the time is right.
In addition to using this bespoke tank, K & S McKenzie also offers bulk fuel and AdBlue® tank repairs, servicing, and installations of fuel management systems and level sensors across the north of England and Scotland – from John O’Groats and beyond.
