Plastic Diesel Tanks

We offer plastic diesel tanks in a range of sizes from 1,350 to 30,000 litres with dispensing options available. Capacity can be increased further by interlinking tanks.

PLASTIC DIESEL TANKS INFORMATION

Our plastic diesel tanks are all bunded and fully compliant with domestic and commercial oil storage regulations throughout the UK. These plastic diesel storage tanks come in capacities from 1,350 to 15,000 for an individual tank or 30,000 litres when interlinking. This range is very cost-effective yet highly durable and is designed with a life expectancy in excess of 20 years when correctly installed, used and maintained. All of our plastic tanks are rotomoulded with a ribbed design and strong polymer with higher than average shot weight. The polyethylene used is UV stabilised, corrosion resistant and hard-wearing. All this creates a single unit with extra thick tank walls and makes our plastic tanks extremely strong and stable with a reduced chance of leaking. All of our bunded diesel tanks comes with a 10 year guarantee when registered.

Like our steel range, plastic diesel fuel stations provide on-site, forecourt-style, red & white diesel dispensing. Premium ancillary equipment is fitted within a secure lockable lid for our 1,350 to 2,500 litre models or a cabinet for larger capacities. We can also manufacture tanks without ancillary equipment which can be used to power a diesel generator or as a simple holding tank. Installation is simple requiring only a solid concrete base and 230V electrical connection (12/24V option doesn’t require mains electricity). DOMESTIC DIESEL STORAGE REGULATIONS

In England, oil tanks with a volume under 3,501 litres used for domestic applications aren’t required to have a secondary containment unless they are sited in locations where oil spills can reach public water sources. This includes:

  • Where oil leaks could run over hard ground and reach coastal water, inland fresh waters or a drinking water source.
  • Where oil spillages could run into an open drain or a loose manhole cover.
  • Where the tank vent pipes cannot be seen when the tank’s being filled, for example, because the delivery tanker is parked too far away.
  • Within 10 metres of coastal water or inland fresh water like lakes or streams.
  • Within 50 metres of a drinking water source, for example, wells, boreholes or springs.

While in these circumstances a bunded oil tank isn’t compulsory, we still recommend bunding all tanks as good environmental practice. Additionally, when you install a single skin tank you face the risk of regulation updates making your tank no longer compliant.

COMMERCIAL DIESEL STORAGE REGULATIONS

Regulations for storing commercial oil must be followed if your business (including marinas and public sector premises) stores oil in a tank with a volume of 201 litres or higher, or if your domestic premises stores oil in a tank with a capacity over 3,500 litres.

Regulations state that all commercial diesel tanks must be bunded.

AGRICULTURAL DIESEL STORAGE REGULATIONS

Diesel stored for agricultural usage follows slightly different rules in England. Diesel storage containers with a capacity over 1,500 litres must be bunded. Additionally, no part of the oil storage installation – including yard drains, dry ditches and land drains – can be within 10 meters of inland or coastal waters.
