The standard warranty for a bunded tank manufactured by Tuffa is 5 years, however, this can be extended to 10 years when registered.

Both steel and plastic Tuffa heating oil tanks have a design life of 20 years or more when correctly installed, used and maintained.

Domestic oil tanks can have a capacity ranging from 500 to 10,000 litres, though the typical size for UK households is between 1,000 and 2,500 litres.

Our plastic tanks have a defined range when it comes to size, but we can manufacture a bespoke tank in steel.

The base of a tank must be solid enough to support the weight of the tank with a wide enough perimeter to act as a barrier from foliage or anything else which can carry a fire.

Regulations state that a tank must be sited on a hard, non-combustible surface of an appropriate thickness.

For domestic installations we recommend:

• Concrete at least 100mm thick
• Paving stones at least 50mm thick positioned close to each other on level ground
• Stonework at least 50mm thick
