Tuffa’s standard water tanks provide robust, versatile liquid storage for domestic, commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications. Manufactured in the UK for over 40 years, our heavy-duty plastic water tanks range in capacity from 1,350 to 20,000 litres—with larger volumes easily achieved using interlinking tank kits.
Rotomoulded from premium, UV-stabilised, 100% recyclable polyethylene, each seamless tank is completely corrosion-resistant and engineered for a 20-year design life. Supplied as standard with a screened vent, inspection hatch, and BSP bottom outlet, our tanks can also be fitted with optional 1″ ball float valves, custom connections, or level monitoring.

Prices vary depending on capacity, shape (slimline vs. vertical), and required fittings. Entry-level slimline tanks start from approximately £350–£400 for 1,350 to 1,400-litre models, while large-scale commercial tanks holding up to 20,000 litres range up to £2,000+. Trade discounts are available for commercial and volume orders.
Tuffa plastic water tanks are rotomoulded using UV-stabilised polymer and carry an expected design life of 20+ years. All standard plastic water tanks come backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee upon registration.
Large quantities of water can be stored in plastic water tanks with a capacity from 1,350 to 20,000 litres. To reduce stagnation water should be stored out of direct sunlight and below 20°C. Where possible this water should be refreshed regularly. Calmed inlets can also be used to reduce stagnation.
Standard water tanks are designed for non-potable storage. Common applications include agricultural sprayer filling, commercial site washdowns, horticultural irrigation, industrial process water, and general emergency water storage.
Algae requires sunlight and warmth to thrive. Tuffa water tanks are manufactured with thick, opaque UV-stabilised polyethylene walls that block sunlight from entering the vessel. To keep water fresh long term, store the tank in a shaded area below 20°C, keep the inspection hatch tightly sealed, and ensure the screened vent remains clear to allow proper airflow without allowing insects inside.
Yes. While our standard plastic tanks come equipped with a 1″ or 2″ BSP female bottom outlet, we can supply tanks with custom BSP thread sizes, flanged connections, or alternative inlet/outlet positions to match your pipework.
Plastic water tanks must be positioned on a flat, level, and fully supporting concrete base capable of holding the total filled weight. Because 1,000 litres of water weighs approximately 1 tonne, the base must support both the vessel and liquid without flexing or settling.
