Find out everything you need to know about tanks with our expert guides.
Tuffa’s waste water and effluent tanks provide safe, reliable storage for contaminated liquids, agricultural run-off, trade effluent, and commercial washdown water. Engineered to handle demanding industrial, agricultural, and domestic applications, our heavy-duty plastic tanks range in capacity from 1,350 to 20,000 litres—with larger capacities available via interlinked tank systems.
Rotomoulded from premium, UV-stabilised, corrosion-resistant polyethylene, each seamless vessel offers high structural strength and a 20-year design life. Because waste water compositions and site environmental risks vary, we offer both single-skin models and secondary containment (bunded) configurations with tailored inlets and outlets.

This depends on the level of contamination, local environmental regulations, and site risk assessments. Non-hazardous greywater or washdown runoff may be suitable for single-skin tanks, whereas hazardous chemicals, trade effluent, or installations near sensitive watercourses often require a bunded (double-skinned) tank to provide 110% secondary containment. Yes. Our tanks are rotomoulded using high-density, UV-stabilised polyethylene, which offers excellent natural resistance to a wide range of mild chemicals, detergents, agricultural effluents, and greywater. If you are storing specific industrial process chemicals or aggressive trade effluents, let us know the exact fluid composition so we can verify chemical compatibility.
Single-unit plastic waste water tanks are available in capacities ranging from 1,350 to 20,000 litres. For larger commercial sites or higher daily storage requirements, multiple tanks can be joined using heavy-duty tank linking kits to expand total capacity.
Tuffa’s standard plastic range is designed for above-ground installation on a flat, level concrete pad. Above-ground siting allows for easy access, inspection, and maintenance compared to below-ground alternatives.
Standard models include a sealed inspection hatch, screened vent, and bottom outlet connection. Because waste water systems often require high-level alarms, larger outlets, or specific draw-off valves, fittings can be customised during specification.
Tanks are typically emptied using a tanker suction hose connected to the outlet valve or lowered through the top inspection hatch. Regular inspections of the hatch, seals, and pipework connections ensure long-term, leak-free operation.
